Ben Stelter-Embry is a civil rights trial lawyer and founder of Embry Law who represents individuals and families whose constitutional rights have been violated by government officials, law enforcement, and institutions entrusted with their safety. A UMKC School of Law graduate and former journalist, Ben brings both courtroom skill and a storyteller’s clarity to complex civil rights cases involving excessive force, in-custody deaths, and systemic failures in detention settings. He has successfully litigated high-stakes cases in federal courts across the region, helping families obtain accountability, answers, and meaningful change.
Ben’s practice is grounded in a simple principle: the Constitution protects everyone, and when those protections are ignored, the law must provide a path to justice. At Embry Law, he combines meticulous case preparation with a client-centered approach, working closely with families to pursue truth, accountability, and safer systems for the future.
